The EnviroSonic® Solution for Sustainable Water Treatment
As demand for water continues to increase, Water Utilities are challenged more than ever to provide affordable, quality water while reducing the environmental impact of chemical usage.
Chemicals have routinely been used to control algae and cyanobacteria. Repeated chemical treatments in addition to being costly, may potentially cause unintended consequences. Europe has banned the use of herbicides. In the United States, there is increase pressure to limit or ban entirely the amount of copper based herbicides. The commercial stimulus caused by the lack of herbicides and the growing public perception that nothing should be added to water has lead to the development of non-chemical treatment alternatives.
The EnviroSonic® solution is state-of-the-art ultrasonic technology for an innovative, non-invasive, eco-friendly water treatment of algae blooms. A single ES-300 solar powered unit is capable of controlling algae up to a range of 1000 feet for colonial green algae, and possibly twice that for cyanobacteria. The end result is a more balanced ecosystem using renewable energy and very little maintenance for many years.
In field applications for more than 10 years, ultrasonic units have proven to be an effective method for controlling algae growth in lakes, reservoirs and ponds.
Ultrasonic Technology Used to Control Algae in Drinking Water Reservoirs
More recently, significant developments have been achieved by EnviroSonic®Ltd. in applying this technology to control biofilm in cooling towers with an in-line piping sidestream system.
